John Piper is BAD!!

This is just hilarious! Yes, John Piper is BAD! He doesn’t just do bad things, he IS bad! As many of you know Piper is a “seven point” Calvinist and “charismatic” preacher with a major voice in Christianity today. This video was done by some of his supporters in light hearted humor. I really enjoyed it. If you thought John MacArthur rapping was something, wait till you see this!

Though Piper may have many good things to say (such as his statements in this video), unfortunately, his teaching on “Christian Hedonism” is truly bad (i.e. in error). But more on that later…

    Hi CY,
I sent an email to John Piper sharing the following link http://www.thefaithfulword.org/cathedonism.html and asked him to consider turning from his unbiblical teaching. If and when he responds, I’ll post an entry on it. Thanks.

I’m curious why you call his Christian Hedonism teaching “unbiblical”. He has an unbelieveable amount of very biblical support for his teachings. Not a word is preached in his church without biblical support. I attended for many years before moving.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on why this is not biblical.

    Hi Laura,

Thanks for stopping by. As for why I believe that the teaching of “Christian Hedonism” is unbiblical, please visit http://www.thefaithfulword.org/cathedonism.html No pastor has perfect teaching in every area. John Piper teaches a lot of good, pure, righteous doctrine, but his philosophy of “Christian Hedonism” just can’t be supported from the Bible. Thanks,

    Tony

    Hi CY,

I tried to contact John Piper to talk with him, but his assistant simply responded with an email. When I asked to talk with the assistant on the phone, he said he was too busy. I’m truly perplexed as to how regular Christians can hold popular Christian leaders accountable if we can’t even get to talk with them. I wonder if there is some solution to this. I’m open to hearing ideas. Thanks,

    Tony

John Piper is a man sent by God to awake us “christians” from owr ideas of how GOD should punish us and judge us, GOD is blessing this man and his mission here on this earth, he says GOD’S Word and we “christians” don’t like it, the Truth Is The Truth. we should work as a team to spread the Gosple to unbeleivers not fight aganist each other, so let’s act like Little Christ and accept the Word of GOD and tell people how awsome HE is!!!….

What a wonderful sincerity and passion Alessya expresses regarding her faith. No one should belittle a person for genuine faith.

So in tenderness, I would like to encourage Alessya to contemplate a few items during her quiet moments with the Lord. She said we should “act like Little Christ and accept the Word of GOD.” To this, I must make my own impassioned appeal. We must act like, imitate, and strive to be like Christ, our God. This includes imitating how He corrected His own faithful followers of their errors, even euphemistically calling them “Satan” to help them understand that to ascribe to error, no matter how well intentioned, is to further Satan’s efforts and not His. Christ rebuked, refuted, and pulled down the strongholds of falsehood within the ranks of those who gathered around Him. Dare we do less?

Alessya seems to imply that it is not possible to tell people how awesome Christ is if we take the time to correct the errors of our brethren. I seriously beg to differ. If we did not correct the biblical errors of our brethren then we would by necessity have a low view of God, so low that we would tolerate virtually anyone who mocked Him with improper names and offensive labels, only one of which is “hedonist.” God is not a hedonist, and it is wretched disrespect of the worst kind to accuse God of being something that He is not. We think so highly and so awesomely of God that we cannot allow those who claim Him as Savior to malign His glorious name by accusing Him of being a hedonist.

In closing, I would like to say that it may be true that much of what John Piper preaches comes from Scripture. And when it does, we echo the Amen! But when he preaches that God is a hedonist and that Christians must convert to Christian Hedonism to become saved (“Unless a man be born again into a Christian Hedonist he cannot see the Kingdom of God”–John Piper, Desiring God), he has ceased “saying God’s Word” and has begun preaching his own.

Search the Bible today, Alessya. Where do you find this statement, “Unless a man be born again into a Christian Hedonist he cannot see the Kingdom of God”? If you cannot find this in your Bible then you must conclude that not everything that Piper preaches is God’s Word.

Alessya, thank you for your intended rebuke. We take it in the spirit of love it is offered.

May Christ increase your love for Him.

John Piper is making a point when he says “you must be born again into a Christian Hedonist” he is making a point that you must treasure (be happy in) Christ above all else. Are you contending that we should not be happy about what Christ has done for us and enjoy him?
Also, making the point that if you can’t find the exact wording of a statement of a pastor in the bible you shouldn’t listen is a bit rediculous.
I do appreciate the fact that you are concerned about Truth. I’m glad you are not a wishy washy “everything is good if it’s good for you” type.

It seems as tho you have no idea what the term means, You might want to do some research through the scriptures. And read Pipers papers on it…http://www.desiringgod.org/about/our-distinctives/our-beliefs/what-is-christian-hedonism

What do you think of John Piper’s comments on the earth is billions of years…”Whatever science says it is, it is…”?

“In verse 1, “In the beginning he made the heavens and the earth,” he makes everything. And then you go day by day and he’s preparing the land. He’s not bringing new things into existence; he’s preparing the land and causing things to grow and separating out water and earth. And then, when it’s all set and prepared, he creates and puts man there.

So that has the advantage of saying that the earth is billions of years old if it wants to be—whatever science says it is, it is—but man is young, and he was good and he sinned. He was a real historical person, because Romans 5 says so, and so does the rest of the Bible.”

    http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/what-should-we-teach-about-creation

This is were you get into the problem that you would have to believe that death and dying occurred before original sin of man and that suffering, and dying in the world wasn’t caused by man. If you try to mix evolution with the Bible, it will blow your theology apart.

Exo 20:9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work,
Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God.
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day.

Jesus Christ said in Mark 10:6…”But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” Here, Christ is saying that they were created at the beginning.

You are a fool of the highest degree, who knows nearly nothing about either John Piper’s actual teaching or the Biblical vision of joy. I trust that few people will be influenced by your nonsense.
