The Law and the Gospel

Here’s a little poem the Lord showed me a few years ago. I really like it.
“Do this and live!” the Law commands,
But gives me neither feet nor hands.
A better word the gospel brings,
It bids me fly, and gives me wings!

In the New Testament it says there are only 2 commandments. Love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul , all your body, and all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets hang on these two commands.
If you walk in agape love, you won’t commit adultery, steal or any of the other “10 Commandments.” in all actuality, there are something like 230 or 260 commandments in the Old Testament. Did you know that if you have flat feet or a mole or have to wear glasses you are in violation of the Law??
The Law is meant to show us that we NEED a Savior. It’s not a set of rules and regulations.
Real agape love covers it all!!
In addition, if you really love the Lord with all your body, you won’t be subject to gluttony or drunkenness or cutting. But if you still desire to do those things, you don’t KNOW God in those areas. There’s a hindrance from you seeing the truth. If you truly saw the truth, you wouldn’t WANT to do those things. And that’s the process of sanctification. The renewing of our minds…
