BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES

2212 Chisholm Trail Rockwall, TX 75032

Christmas, 2007

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Romans 5:15-19

THANKS BE UNTO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT. II Corinthians 9:15

Hail, the heave’n-born Prince of Peace! Hail, the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, Ris’n with healing in His wings. Mild He lays His glory by, Born that men no more may die, Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them second birth. Hark the Herald Angels sing,

“Glory to the new-born KING.”

As we have come to another Christmas Season the state of the world continues to escalate DOWN, from a Christian perspective, and human evils increase daily( I Timothy 4, II Timothy 3) yet from the world’s humanistic perspective “Every day in every way man is getting better and better.” God is becoming almost totally “politically incorrect” in our increasingly humanistic society. Many of our churches are becoming “neutered” by the opinions of men rather than the knowledge of God and the mind of Christ. How comforting to know as those who believe in Biblical Truth, that the God we serve is in total control of His universe and those whom He created. (Global Warming? does not escape His notice either!) The best gift for any of us this Christmas time would be to settle the state of your eternal destiny forever and KNOW that you have eternal life, and that life is in the SON:

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. I John 5:11-13

Pilate saith unto him (Jesus), What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. John 18:38

So, our challenge to each of us this Christmas Season is to decide what true truth really is — even those of us who call ourselves Christians, Who determines TRUTH, God or man? Each of us as created beings IS eternal and we will all have a resurrection (I Corinthians 15), either to life or death. None of us can “save” another’s soul (Psalm 49:7) and each is responsible before God to act on the knowledge and revelation as stated in Romans 1. God HAS revealed Himself to man, either in Specific or General Revelation (Psalm 19). Christians who act in such a way as to discredit the ministry (hypocrisy) are NOT reasons to reject the gospel, as each man is accountable to God for his or her own life. God will justly judge the hypocrites, be they Christians or non-Christians. The simple gospel message is:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8, 9). The best Christmas gift possible is the gift of life eternal.

We rarely share correspondence that we receive, but our hearts were particularly touched by three children from the same family and the timing of their letters! Not coincidence, but a sovereign God who IS there, and DOES act into time and space, especially by demonstrating His love for us with such a “gift” of encouragement in the mail! (Our four part series mentioned below, The Evolution of a Creationist, Does It Really Matter, is being translated into various languages, hopefully to be used for the glory of our Lord.)

Dear Dr. Martin, For school one day my brothers and I watched your video series The Evolution of a Creationist. I want to tell you that I thought it was incredible how much you had that disproves evolution. And how you explain why you couldn’t believe in the Bible and evolution. I will definitely explain that to some of my friends who think that. I also found it funny that evolutionists have to lie to make what they are saying, true. What confuses me is that a lot of people believe in this stuff without looking into it and if they did , they could see that it is just something that some man made up one day. I really liked your fourth part on how old the earth really is. Overall I thought it was a great series and it really opened my eyes to some new things. Sincerely, B.L. (age 14)

Dear Dr. Martin, My Father had us watch your video series on The Evolution of a Creationist. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Between being interesting and incredibly insightful, it was also very encouraging to the Christian faith. The irreducibly complex animals and the great weaknesses in the theory of Evolution were very educational and exciting. Thank you for creating this excellent series on our Creator and His truth. God Bless! F.L. (age 16)

Dear Dr. Martin, The other day my brothers and I watched The Evolution of a Creationist. I found it really amusing how evolutionists mess up drawings of us as babies to make it look like we were fish and reptiles. I wish that everybody in the world could see this so evolution would be gone. Evolutionists are so stubborn that even when they are proved wrong they won’t admit it. I’ve been learning about a flagellum at church, it’s so complex that someone more powerful than us (God) had to create it. When you talked about how 56% -88% of the Christian kids can’t defend their faith in college, it made me glad that I could listen to you and know how to. Thank you for making this video series, I can’t wait to use the knowledge you have given me. Sincerely, B. L. (age 11)

We praise the Lord for His grace in the lives of children, especially. How very important it is to minister in their lives while we have opportunity, and to “seize the moment” and take every opportunity to indoctrinate them in Truth. The time is fast coming, if our Lord tarries, when that will not be as easy to do and they will essentially be “wards of the state” and in a godless “global village,” out of the influences of the home. Let us make good use of our time as the days are increasingly evil, so let us not be unwise, but wise, knowing what the will of the Lord is (Ephesians 15:5).

    Dr.Martin:
When you and your wife were at Wayside Chapel last week, I visited some with your wife while helping her with the book table after the 8:00 and 9:15 session. She mentioned that you would be in San Antonio in January. Is that true?

And, do you charge to speak? The reason I am asking is that I am wondering if you would be able and willing to address high school students from Christian schools?

I teach at First Baptist Academy, a school pre-K through 12th grades. (This is the first year with a graduating class.) Anyway, we are not a large or wealthy school; but, if you are able/interested, I would see if we could contact some other schools, like SACS and Believers’ Academy, Bracken Christian, Trinity Christian, New Braunfels Christian Academy. We did this for Josh McDowell last spring and one of the larger churches hosted the presentation (physically, but I don’t know about financially. I do know that Mr. McDowell had a book table for sales and sold a good bit.)

Our school’s mission is to teach students to defend their faith. In the high school, students must have a profession of faith to attend. Any student may attend in the lower grades. The reason is that a non-Christian would not be open to the teaching and we do incorporate apologetics into the curriculum/teaching/testing. And, that requires on-going education for all of us as we pursue our relationship with the Lord.

I asked your wife to tell you for me how much I appreciate your presentation: information and style. Your speaking style has a real freshness to it and captivates your listening audience. I teach English and speech, and watch for that. It seems many highly educated scientists who address the defense of our faith speak over the heads of most of us, unfortunately. You,however, have a really dynamic style to complement the information you share.

Also, I bought several books, but am looking for the slides you presented at Wayside on the worldview: the foundation (economics, sociology, etc.) that establish the worldview and result in the behavior. The slide was in the section of your presentation about the comparison to the iceberg (beliefs underneath/subconscious. Which book has that information?

Thanks for your commitment to teach us within the church. I also asked Jenna Dee why you weren’t in the pulpit. Her response, I’m sure, is true. But, it’s angering! The “church” is failing to teach us, to prepare us. One person to whom I said that told me it’s my job to educate myself. Well, why, then,do we have Sunday school classes? and Bible studies?

If you are interested in addressing high schoolers, let me know. If not, it’s okay. Jenna Dee gave me a DVD set for the school. And, I bought a number of books to distribute to teachers/friends and unsaved family members.

God bless you and continue to enrich you with His knowledge and wisdom.
