BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES
2212 Chisholm Trail, Rockwall, TX 75032  972-771-0568

And he changeth the times and the seasons; he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: he revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.                                                                     Daniel 2:21, 22

That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.                      Isaiah 40:23

For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.  But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.                                                      Psalm 75:6, 7

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.  Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.                                                                                                                                                                    Psalm 27:13, 14

Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.  Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.                                                                                              Psalm 108:12, 13

I know that thou canst do everything, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.                  Job 42:2

Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.  But they said, We will not walk therein.     Jeremiah 6:16

(Scripture has one interpretation, but many applications for today’s darkening world. Thus as the Scripture states in John 8:32, the truth of the Word will set us free, and IS true Truth, John 17:17)

“We are in a new information age, old answers aren’t going to work—we have to have new leadership, new environment, CHANGE.”  (One of the many similar quotes surfacing daily in the press).  In another election year, we must remind ourselves again that it is God who sovereignly raises kings up and tears them down to accomplish His purposes in this world.  His thoughts are not our thoughts, nor are His ways our ways as He tells us in Isaiah 55:8.  In Psalm 115:3 God reminds us that He IS God and can do what He pleases.  The Jeremiah passage above indicates that there is merit in not throwing out the baby with the bath water, that there is merit in the old paths—all “tradition” is not bad. God’s Word is the same today, yesterday, and forever and does NOT change, therefore we must put proposed CHANGES up against the grid of Scripture. This is not altogether easy in a post-modern society that has dismissed Biblical absolutes. Everyone has their own “truth” even among the churched.  We have elevated “reason,” experience, tradition, and man determining truth, over faith and God determining truth. Biblical absolutes ARE still available, will we choose them over “political correctness?”

This election is perhaps the most significant one in the history of the United States, and although it seems to always be the “lesser of the evils” we still do have a choice in platforms of each party in which there are clear cut differences as follows in these few major examples:

 *Pro-life (sanctity of life)

 *Marriage = man & woman

*Against embryonic stem cell research

 *The right to bear arms

 *Less government/less taxation

*Pro-choice (abortion is OK and animals are more protected than babies in a mother’s womb)

*Marriage is defined by man, defies Biblical teaching and authority (Man, not God determines truth)
*Use fertilized ovum for research (No evidence for success except in adult stem cell research)

*Guns confiscated and controlled by government

*Big government/more taxation

The most significant aspect about this election is the clear cut difference in rapidly embracing a Marxist socialism or trying to maintain a more capitalistic society where the freedoms of the people are not legislated away by special interest groups and judges who make laws against laws.  We must keep in mind that it is not man who determines truth, but God, and vote the more biblical platform.  Voting for someone that merely is articulate and “charismatic” and promises more government aid to an already “entitled” society that has gotten too much of a free ride, will further foster irresponsibility and dependence on government.  In the past, it has been our Biblical Absolutes, and ensuing character, responsibility, and personal integrity that has made America so strong.  It is almost like we are faced with the enticement of the song of the ‘60’s in which a lyric states, “It can’t be wrong when it seems so right.“  Proverbs 3:5 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding, that we should acknowledge God in all respects and HE will direct our paths.  We are at a real turning point in the history of the United States with this election.  Whatever the outcome, God’s grace is ALWAYS sufficient, for His plan, power, and ability to make all things work together for good, far supersedes any plans of men.  In the end, no matter what happens, we know that our Redeemer lives and in the latter day HE will stand on the earth!  (Job 19:25)  Let us be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, as our labor is not in vain in the Lord (I Corinthians 15:58). As Christians we are living in a very exciting time and have no need to fear man or seek man’s approval (John 5:44; 12:43).

Let us NOT lose our eternal perspective!

*In a nutshell, the first phase of the filming for Creation Proclaims: The Glory of God Revealed  at “Creatures of Creation” in North Carolina went very well, although a totally new experience for both of us, very challenging but exciting.  Please pray for the completion of these DVDs which film God’s creation for His glory.

*Our trip to England was the best one yet and we are amazed by God’s working to raise up this conference “for such a time as this.”  It has nearly doubled since the first conference five years ago at the Heatree Conference Center.  There were many youth and adults attending with programs for all. It was a great joy for us to re-kindle friendships and fellowship with our brothers and sisters in England.  What an incredible bond, transcending comprehension on an earthly level, when we are, “in Christ”!  Please pray for God’s gracious use of this time and investment for eternity, as only HE can orchestrate . . . and for all the many lives and situations represented.

*Jobe’s current health status is good according to the cardiologist and he survived  the multiple dermatological excisions of yesterday!

*Taryn and Mirren are safely back at school in spite of Gustav, and MUCH prayer is needed for their exams 9-12 and 9-22-26 ’08.  These include Latin examinations, and comprehensive exams, which will be both oral and written.

*Jenna Dee: Prayer for continued ability to maintain the home and ministry affairs,  minor health concerns
