BIBLICAL DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES

2212 Chisholm Trail, Rockwall, Texas 75032

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called

Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.  I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which In his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords; who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

I Timothy 6:12-16

Thou are worth, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

Revelation 4:11

And he said unto me, It is done.  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.  He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Revelation 21:6, 7

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

II Corinthians 9:15

Post election America is now officially divided (it was not a landslide and she has gotten what she wanted, whether legally or illegally), a KING!  The liberal press greatly enhanced the hype with the “messiah” like status that was awarded to the President Elect throughout the campaign time.   It is interesting in I Samuel 8:5 what the Scriptures said when the people basically rejected God and wanted a king:  And said unto him (Samuel), “Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways”Now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.  Also note the Scripture from Judges (17:6, 21:25):   “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.”  Those of us conservative in our political persuasion and who understand history at all, realize that we are headed straight into socialism with increasing government control and most probably the end of capitalism as we have known it.  The philosophy of Horace Mann and John Dewey have most certainly triumphed in changing our education system to a godless and ME centered   culture.  It has effectively and efficiently eliminated any thought of God from the classroom and injected the values of environmentalism, tolerance, “entitlement” and CHANGE into each student.  The kind of change that is now inevitable will forever change America from the land of the free and the home of the brave.  For the true Christian there will be increasing restrictions in many areas, especially free speech as we have known it.  The humanists can burn the American flag and put a crucifix in human waste, but we will be restricted very shortly (the revival of the “Fairness Doctrine” and “hate crimes” laws) with what we can and can’t say even in church!!!

Even in the supposedly “evangelical churches” there is a growing rejection of truth in principle and of Biblical truth in particular. Many popular Christian leaders are attacking the very notion of truth and, instead, telling Christians that we need to embrace mystery, uncertainty, and the experiential. In the process, the authority of Scripture and the gospel itself are under massive attack in the church today.  As evidenced in history, the church always thrives under persecution and the “chaff” of the church is flushed out when the going gets tough.  In this Thanksgiving and Christmas time of year, let us be truly grateful for what HAS come across God’s desk, as we know that it is HE who raises up Kings, and HE who tears them down.  Our response to whatever is ahead for the Church should be based on what Scripture says and not on our feelings, tradition, popular voices, current trends, etc.  I Peter 4:12-19 can give us much hope and joy as we face the unprecedented challenges of a truly anti-Christian era:

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.  If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.  For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?  And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?  Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

We are very disappointed to realize that we will not have our new animal DVD (as we had promised many of you) completed in time for Christmas presents.  We will have to let you know when it is available.  Our time with Taryn and Mirren at Thanksgiving was enjoyable and we all realized that it had been a long stretch since September!  They continue to light the candle at both ends trying to complete the work for their respective dissertations, so your prayers are greatly appreciated for this goal.  Their work is due mid-March, so please pray for supernatural ability and that everything will come together for completion and the glory of God for a May 2009 graduation.  Pray too for those professors who are giving so much of their time to assist them in these endeavors.  We continue to be amazed and thankful for God’s provision and encouragement to us in the midst of human setbacks and frustrations, financial gloom, which are, of course, not worthy to be compared with what is to come! (Paraphrase of Romans 8:18)  Let us all in the midst of the confusion and unrest in our world, regain that sense of awe and wonder in the ONE who became flesh and dwelt among us and gave us that UNSPEAKABLE GIFT!
