Stephen is Deputized as an Official Boone County Junior Sheriff Deputy

This was part of the swearing in ceremony. They took an oath before God that read in part “I promise to obey the laws of this country, my parents, and elders.” Stephen’s the one with the gun and shiny shoes.

Stephen gave the Sheriff a box of donuts and a gospel tract. Sheriff Helmig sure was happily surprised. Later on we saw him showing the gospel tract to other policemen.

Great picture of Sheriff Michael Helmig and his new Junior Boone County Sheriff Deputy.

Grace’s birthday and the grace she showed to her family
Posted on December 16th, 2007 @ 4:42 am

On Grace’s birthday a few days ago, I was out of the office for the afternoon at a meeting and meant to get home by 6pm to enjoy dinner and time with her. My coworker and I were about to leave right on time, when the Lord brought opportunity to share the gospel with two Roman Catholics. We shared Christ for about 40 minutes and then left. It was great, the Lord seemed to be convicting them of grace vs. works, repentance, etc.On the drive back home I mentioned to my coworker that it was Grace’s birthday and I hoped that she wouldn’t be sad or mad that I was late coming home. But then I immediately had a second thought and told my coworker, “Actually I know that Grace will be more happy that we got to preach the gospel even if it means I get home late.”When I arrived home I told the family about the witnessing encounter, we all prayed for the Catholics and Grace said, unprompted, “Daddy, it’s okay that you got home late, because preaching the gospel is more important than being home on time.” :)Isn’t that great! Praise the Lord. So she has her priorities straight. She knows what is important to the Lord and what is not. She knows that the things which are seen are temporal and the things which are not seen are eternal.

The week before her birthday, she said to me, “I can’t wait for my birthday so I can g… presents!!” I didn’t quite hear her. I thought she might be saying she was excited to GET or GIVE presents. So I asked her to repeat herself. She said, “I can’t wait for my birthday so I can give presents!!” She was excited to go to the dollar store ON her birthday so that she could buy presents for her family. It was a huge part of the whole birthday celebration and day, for her to give presents to her parents and siblings. She gave Faith a dolly pen.

She gave Josiah a baby pillow.

She gave me some candy and she gave Mommy a hand-made card with Bible Study instructions.

She hand-made Stephen a board game!!! (The hand-made gift came into play because Stephen had done something wrong and was therefore not allowed to receive his gift that day, he had to wait one day.)

So cute!!!! PRAISE GOD!

Thank the Lord for the work He’s doing in our little family. Please continue to pray for us.
